The Building

This development offers 32,000 sq. ft. of modern, open plan office accommodation arranged over lower ground, ground and seven upper floors. The building is designed to BREEAM 2011 ‘Excellent’ and benefits from light, open plan office space, three roof terraces on the sixth and seventh floors.

Originally constructed as serviced apartments in the 1890’s by Hyman and Marcus Collins, the building suffered bomb damage in WWII and was completely reconstructed in 1951 as offices for the Royal British Legion.

The development, known as 48 Pall Mall, combines two buildings, 48 and 49 Pall Mall to provide 32,000 sq ft of contemporary Grade A office space over lower ground, ground and seven upper floors. The striking façade of 49 Pall Mall has been retained, whilst the contemporary new façade of 48 Pall Mall has been designed to look toward the future.

Design

48 Pall Mall has been designed by Trehearne Architects to provide highly specified, premium workspace that can adapt to the changing demands of expanding global businesses.

A sympathetic, yet contemporary artwork adorns the new façade of 48 Pall Mall designed by Timorous Beasties, the internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning design studio. A subtle modern acanthus leaf design has been hand carved into the limestone façade, to complement the classical acanthus motifs found in the original architectural features of the adjacent retained façade of 49 Pall Mall.

A second contemporary artwork by Timorous Beasties has also been embossed in bronze concrete on the reception feature wall, emulating the building’s modern work spaces and bronze detailing of the ground floor glazing.
